Threat response to emotional stimulus
Amygdala hijack describes a situation where the amygdala, a small almond-shaped structure in the brain responsible for processing emotions, takes control of our reactions before the rational part of the brain (the frontal lobes) can intervene. This helpful tool will guide neurodivergent students to identify triggers for amygdala hijack and problem-solve various strategies to help manage and ultimately defeat amygdala hijack.
