Jennifer Luckhart on flexibility and the power of choice

Teaching Flexibility and Autonomy: Jennifer Luckhart (BCBA) discussed the importance of teaching flexibility and autonomy to students by providing structured choices and modelling flexibility within that structure. She emphasized the need for adults to set parameters while allowing students to express their needs and make choices safely and reasonably.

Jennifer highlights the concept of behavioural design in presenting choices to students. They explained that overwhelming students with too many choices can be counterproductive and suggested starting with small choices and gradually increasing the complexity to teach autonomy effectively. 0:55
