About this Session

Where’s my pen? Has anyone seen my remote? Oh, no, it’s Monday, we have gym!  Everybody, get ready! Squirrel!

Does this sound like you? Would you like to learn how to use your abilities for good and learn strategies to structure your classroom and support your neurodivergent learners in skill acquisition? If so, join us for strategies to do just that!

Be advised that we are both prone to going off-topic, throwing in tons of sarcasm, and encouraging lots of laughter during this presentation. Come learn from our mistakes (and tons of good ideas, too)!

Join Brooke & Tara as they share their own stories from their classrooms and give tips on what teachers can do to support students with ADHD.

Speakers' Bios

Tara Maltby, M.A.Ed., and Brooke C. Freeburg, M.Ed., bring over 40 years of combined K–12 classroom experience and a collective 85+ years of firsthand expertise in living with ADHD . As faculty at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and doctoral candidates, they’re passionate about supporting teachers with practical strategies that help all students thrive.

Brooke’s research focuses on general education teachers' perceptions of inclusion, while Tara’s dissertation explores barriers faced by rural Alaskan paraprofessionals seeking special education certification. With strong backgrounds in behavior support, they love connecting about special education, classroom management, and all things inclusion.
